TNAU is proud of pioneering in the field of Nano Science and Technology by investing a sum of Rs. Twelve crores (Rs. 12 crores) on infrastructure, research and human resource building. This smart investment helped TNAU to harness research grants from National and International funding agencies. To promote research and development activities and to augment capacity building, a new PG degree program on M. Tech. (Agricultural Nanotechnology) was introduced in the year 2011-12. This effort commensurate with one of the recommendations of the National Seminar on Nano-Agri 2011 – “Nanotechnology for enhanced food security” held in TNAU during April 7-8, 2011.

The course curriculum has been developed in such a way that the syllabus covers basic and applied aspects of Nanotechnology in Agricultural Sciences. This encompasses synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials, fabrication of nano agri inputs, nano biotechnology, nano food system, nano remediation, nano toxicity, biosafety and regulatory framework. The PG degree program will help the students to acquire a wholesome package of Nano Agriculture.

The Indian Council of Agriculture has recognized M.Sc. (Ag) in Agrl. Nanotechnology under the Physical Sciences.  Students who have taken any UG degree program offered by any of the SAU’s / ICAR institutes in the country are eligible to apply.
