IDRC Project Evaluation April 7-13-2016

The Department of Nano Science & Technology had a Project Evaluation Meet during April 7 – 13, 2016 for the Scale Up Project on “Enhanced Preservation of Fruits using Nanotechnology” being jointly funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and International Development Research Center (IDRC), Canada, under the Canadian International Food Security Research Fund (CIFSRF) with a budget outlay of Rs. 11.4 Crores.

Ms. Mary Picard, Evaluator, UNIVERSALIA, Quebec, Canada, deputed by the IDRC, Canada, visited the Nanotechnology Center and interacted with scientists and students who are currently working the scheme. Dr. K.S. Subramanian, Principal Investigator of the Project presented the overview of the project and narrated the products that are ready for commercialization (hexanal formulation pre-harvest spray, post-harvest dip and vapour), nano-products under testing viz., electrospun fibre nano-matrix (sticker) and cyclodextrin inclusion complex (sachet) besides social and environmental impacts of the product. Dr. G.J. Janavi, Professor & Head, Department of Nano Science & Technology, proposed a formal vote of thanks.
